Description

What: the type of toilets used in the community of Ikemeleng are pit or portable toilets which were provided by Aquarius mine, which were allocated on basis that 1 toilet is to be used by more than 2 households.
More households has tenants in their back yards which increases the number of people using the toilet.

Where: Ikemeleng new stands section. The section is just 200meters away from the cross way road to Aquarius mine.

Impacts: the toilets are placed on the streets which is a violation of human right. Women are more exposed to the health hazard caused by these toilets during summer season worms roam all over the toilets and are drained once in two to three weeks time.

Likely causes: Aquarius mine deny people their right to dignity by not providing better options as to the one provided in 2006 as a temporary solution.
