What: Ikemeleng community is experiencing a very high number of people whom are job seekers in the surrounding mines.The community is using pit toilets as well as the bucket toilets which are provided by Aquarius mine.Due to the high volume of tenants in our community, people are now unable to manage their dirty water which they now splash them across the streets.

Where: Ikemeleng is a mining community in Kroondal. About 7km outside Rustenburg CBD.

Impacts: community is complaining about the dirty water which some believe causes bad luck when you cross them.It is a huge health hazard to the residents as smelly.

Likely causes: We believe the main cause is the overpopulation caused by mining employees whom are tenants in our community.They increase the number of population in the community which they make it difficult for people to manage their dirty water.
