Mine ignorance result in another loss of life

A little boy aged 15 years from the family of Makgopa in Phashaskraal Mosotsi Village drowned and died on Monday the 31st of October 2016. This incident took place in an a abandoned open pit mine just five minutes’ walk from the village. It appears a group of young people were swimming at the Bokone platinum mine open cast operated by Benhouse subcontractor when the shocking incident happened. The mine was not barricaded and without security guards after the operation was stopped following the death of another community member after being struck by a rock during blasting few years ago.It is obvious that the mine does not adhere to health and safety regulations and the provisions of NEMa
